RCMP Officer Charged With Harassment
After Targeting Woman
Nova Scotia’s Serious Incident Response Team (SiRT) announced Thursday the officer has been charged with two counts of criminal harassment and one count of breach of trust.
The charges stem from alleged incidents that happened on different dates between May 30th and July 26th, 2026.
Halifax Regional Police first reported the allegations to SiRT on July 26th, raising concerns that an active RCMP officer had been harassing a woman he knew.
That prompted an investigation by the independent police watchdog, which announced the charges on November 5th.
Meantime, Meaghan Stewart, Director of Administration and Personnel with the RCMP says the charges are troubling and will understandably cause concern.
“The RCMP treats all allegations of misconduct with the utmost seriousness and expects its employees to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity and accountability,” says Stewart in a statement.
The officer is suspended without pay and is scheduled to appear in Halifax Provincial Court on December 4th, at 10am.
SiRT is an independent police oversight agency responsible for investigating serious incidents involving police officers in Nova Scotia and New Brunswick.
